Cacaw is a fierce and edgy trio making music as raw naked emotionalism. Their sounds range from modern angular songs to experimental noise. Oscar Noriega plays beautifully unpredictable saxophone, veering from clear lyricism to melt your face screams. He has lived in Brooklyn since 1992, and has worked with Tom Rainey, Cuong Vu, Brad Shepik, Chris Speed, Jim Black, and Slavic Soul Party, among others. He is currently a member of Tim Bern’s Los Totopos and Endangered Blood. Drummer Jeff Davis has been featured in Eivind Opsvik’s Overseas, Tone Collector, Michael Bates’ Outside Sources, and the Pedro Giraudo Jazz Orchestra. He recently released his debut album as a leader, “We Sleep Outside”, on Loyal Label. Landon Knoblock’s music has been described by as “unpredictable, energetic, beautiful, loud, soft, subtle, and surprising” (Bruce Lindsay of All About Jazz ). Knoblock has performed with Ron Horton, Ben Allison, Michael Blake, and Jeff Lederer. His latest album, Gasoline Rainbow on Fractamodi Music, “takes improvised jazz to the next level” (Jon Neudorf, SeaOfTranquility.org).
