Landon Knoblock

Landon Knoblock is a creative pianist, an ambitious composer, and an adventurous improviser. Hailed as “a superb pianist” by Ed Blanco of ejazznews.com, Landon’s music is passionate and spontaneous. His trio has been described by Robert De Virtis of www.jazzconvention.net as “three musicians who concentrate on the most essential musical elements, intent and inspired in the creation of a modern music, carefully crafted and direct, and with impressive interplay.” Landon’s performances are characterized by the highest level of artistry.

Originally from Miami, Landon is currently based in Brooklyn, New York. His second trio album “The Heartbeat, The Breath”, has just been released on CAMjazz. Landon’s other projects include a rock/avant-garde improvisational duo with Miami based drummer Jason Furman, and Creatures with Striking Features, a trio with saxophonist Phil Doyle and drummer Austin McMahon.

The Landon Knoblock Trio has performed at the Young Jazz In Town Festival in Foligno, Italy, and the Art Blakey Jazz Club in Brescia, Italy. The group’s United States performances have included Twins Jazz in Washington DC, The Arturo Sandoval Jazz Club in Miami, and Kokopellis Jazz Club in Savannah. Some other notable performances include performing with Grammy Award winning Arturo Sandoval, backing jazz vocalist Kevin Mahogany, and opening for the virtuosic Italian pianist Antonello Salis. Recently, Landon had the opportunity to record with the acclaimed New York trumpet player Ron Horton.

Landon holds a B.M. in Jazz Performance and a M.M. with Honors in Jazz Pedagogy from the University of Miami. While in attendance there, he had the opportunity to perform with such renowned jazz artists as Kurt Elling, Claudia Acuna, and John Riley. He also received two Downbeat Awards for his involvement in musical groups at the University.
